RESOLUTION
CONFIDENTIALITY OF NATIONAL COUNCIL BUSINESS
The National Council of the Inkatha Freedom Party, which met in Ulundi on Saturday 14th May, 2005, adopted the following resolution:
Noting:
- That the deliberations of the IFP National Council are confidential and secret; and
- That the principle of confidentiality is vital to the work of a political party; and
- That the image of the Party has been tarnished by the unseemly conduct of senior Party officials discussing their differences in the media
Resolves:
- To note with gratitude the regret expressed by the National Chairperson that a matter pertaining to the National Council was discussed in the media; and
- To uphold the rule that no member of the National Council, without exception, is permitted to discuss the body’s business outside of the meeting; and
- To uphold the rule that no rebuttal, clarification or comment about the work of the National Council is allowed except by a National Council Resolution or press-statement; and
- To implore all our officials to desist from airing their differences of opinion in the media.
