IFP Women’s Brigade Declaration – September 2010

IFP WOMEN’S BRIGADE NATIONAL COUNCIL

DECLARATION OF THE IFP WOMEN’S BRIGADE
MADE ON SATURDAY, 4TH SEPTEMBER 2010 AT THE IFP HEAD OFFICE

1. PREAMBLE:

Whereas the IFP is currently plagued by internal problems as a result of anarchic forces bent on sowing confusion and despondency which threaten the existence of the party
Whereas these forces seek to consummate the old campaign launched in the 1980’s by the ANC-SACP-UDF-COSATU axis to destroy and wipe out Inkatha and its President
Whereas the extinction of the IFP would have a negative impact on the survival of democracy in South Africa

2. DECLARATION:

We, the women gathered here today and forming the IFP Women’s Brigade, hereby declare before South Africa and the world that:

Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi is the people’s watchdog and bastion against South Africa’s deteriorating towards the tyranny of the majority and abuse of power

South Africa therefore still needs the strong and moral leadership of Prince Buthelezi to guard the hallowed values and gains of the struggle in the midst of opportunistic, immoral, covetous and weak leadership threatening the survival of our democracy

Divisions and poisonous attitudes currently prevailing in the IFP threaten to derail the IFP from this very important task assigned to it by destiny

Current problems within the IFP demand strong and decisive leadership of Prince Buthelezi to steer the party until there is stability

3. RESOLUTIONS:

We, therefore resolve to:

  1. Record our unwavering commitment to the constitutional principles of the IFP and to the leadership of our President, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi
  2. Fight by all means to protect and preserve the legacy of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, which is the legacy of the IFP
  3. Oppose and resist all forms of anarchic tendencies which seek to usurp control of the IFP and derail it from its hallowed values and principles
  4. Ensure that Prince Buthelezi continues to provide leadership in the IFP until such time that the party is healed of all current internal problems
  5. Alert the membership of the IFP to the dangers posed by the forces of darkness currently at work within the party
  6. Work tirelessly to revive the spirit of the members and supporters of the IFP as well as the trust that South Africans have in the IFP as their watchdog

4. CONCLUSION

This we declare and sign on this 4th Day of September 2010
at the IFP Head Office, No. 2 Durban Club Place, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
