As we approach Good Friday and Easter Sunday, on behalf of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), I would like to wish all South Africans who celebrate Easter a blessed weekend, as they commemorate one of the most significant and defining events on the Christian calendar.
Easter is central to the Christian faith, as it is the time for Christians to remember the death and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This message of hope is both timeless and universal. We further wish all families celebrating together across South Africa a time of peace and joy.
The hallmark of the Christian faith is the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this time when so much – at the behest of an absent leadership – is going wrong in our country, one prays that His resurrection will also mark the resurrection of servant leadership, hope, and progress in our country, for all our People. We will continue to pray steadfastly that South Africa may be restored.
At its foundation, the life-journey of the Lord Jesus Christ is servant leadership and selflessness, and therefore, during this time of prayer, may we all renew ourselves in the patriotic cause of service.
As the IFP, we would also call on all South Africans to exercise caution as they travel on our roads this Easter, so that all travellers arrive safely at their destinations.
