The Official Opposition in the 6th session of the Legislature of KwaZulu Natal, the Inkatha Freedom Party, expresses its disappointment of the acceptance speech delivered by Premier Sihle Zikalala after his nomination in the legislature on Wednesday 22 May 2019.
In accepting the position, Zikalala amongst other things, expressed his gratitude to the former Premiers of the Province. In doing so he only acknowledged and singled out ANC Former Premiers from Premier Ndebele in 2004 onwards, up to the last Premier Willies Mchunu. Sidelining IFP Premiers who laid a solid foundation for the province in the persons of:
- Dr Frank Mdlalose
- Dr Ben Ngubane
- Dr LPHM Mtshali
Is not a good sign of the spirit of the province and does not auger well for the citizens of KwaZulu Natal.
Going forward, if Zikalala is to succeed in his position as Premier of the province, he must begin to learn to be a real Premier of the Province not just Premier of the ANC.
Mr Zikalala must know that he cannot rewrite the history of this province: hatred if not immaturity will make him mislead the Province of KwaZulu Natal.
