The Inkatha Freedom Party condemns in the strongest possible terms the irresponsible behavior by the ANC by preventing the construction of a mall to take place at Ward 10 in Turton in uMzumbe Local Municipality.
“The conduct of the ANC is a disgrace. We were shocked when ANC councilors and their supporters staged a protest against the construction of a mall as all the arrangement were made and investors have agreed to build a mall. Furthermore, the municipality didn’t have interest from the beginning.
We find it outrageous and disingenuous that the ANC councilors can prevent the development to take place just because they want to know how people were recruited. Before people were recruited the local traditional leadership called a public meeting last Tuesday and stated that all people must bring their CVs to avoid nepotism and cronyism during the hiring process, “said IFP Member of Exco of Ugu District Municipality Cllr Simphiwe Mthethwa.
“When projects like Enkanini sports field, Ntelezi Msane Heritage Centre and the office of the municipality were undertaken the ANC did not interfere because this was done by their government. We are convinced that this is political motivated and disrespectful to the Luthuli traditional leadership. The ANC want to sow unnecessary divisions amongst the residents. The ANC must accept that it has failed to create job opportunities therefore it must not prevent those who are willing to create job opportunities for poor people, and no amount of violence will change that,” concluded Cllr Mthethwa.
The IFP will do everything in its power to ensure that the dream of building a mall at Mathulini Area is fulfilled. It cannot allow the situation where certain individuals who want to benefit for themselves and their cronies are preventing poor and unemployed people to get job opportunities.
