Note to editors: This statement follows the IEC’s confirmation of results this morning which indicated that the IFP won Ward 7 in Mthonjaneni in the King Cetshwayo District in KZN from the ANC.
Yesterday’s resounding by-election victory in Ward 7, Mthonjaneni, confirms that the people of KwaZulu-Natal are ready to win back the province in 2019.
We thank each and every voter, supporter, activist and our leadership structures in the King Cetshwayo District for coming out in their numbers and for running an excellent campaign based on our values.
Congratulations to the newly elected Ward Councillor, Mr Tholinhlanhla Psychology Ngema.
When it comes to trust, no one beats the IFP. Ours is a legacy of integrity and honest leadership. We don’t make promises that can’t be kept, because the IFP operates on the principle of integrity.
This was another victory for leadership and integrity as residents in Ward 7 refused the ANCs offer of corruption, maladministration and poor leadership.
We won 52% of the vote, up from 47% in the 2016 Local Government Election. This is the third ward the IFP has won off the ANC in KZN in this year.
Much needed change is coming to KwaZulu-Natal and all our structures are growing each day across the country. People trust us, our track record and our values.
