Boxing fraternity suffers yet another blow following passing of Thulani Nkunzi Magudulela

Feb 16, 2021 | Press Releases

The boxing fraternity has suffered yet another blow, following the passing of veteran boxing promoter, Thulani Nkunzi Magudulela. His death comes shortly after the death of Mzimasi Mnguni, another renowned South African boxing promoter, whose mentorship produced numerous boxing legends.

This news devastated the IFP in KwaZulu-Natal, as Magudulela was on a crusade to entrench and promote boxing in the rural areas of the province, especially in KwaNongoma in Dabhazi, Ward 12, where he hails from.

Under his mentorship, he has produced champions such as Moruti Mthalane, and Thabiso Mchunu.

It will be a mammoth task to find a replacement of Magudulela’s calibre, with the ability to identify and nurture boxing talent in the early stages. The IFP will forever cherish his efforts towards community-building and promoting sober habits amongst young boys and girls.

The IFP conveys its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and the boxers who worked closely with him.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
