The IFP Youth Brigade believes that our country’s future generation is under severe threat.
As we mark Child Protection Week in the country, far too many children under the age of 18 face harsh conditions.
The Bill of Rights in the Constitution specifically states that every child has the right to be protected from maltreatment, neglect, abuse or degradation.
However, these rights are not upheld and many children find themselves violated, sexually abused, heading up homes and struggling to make ends meet as they assist their families in lifting themselves out of poverty.
The recent scourge of sexual abuse in our schools shows that not enough is being done to protect our children from sex-pests and paedophiles.
The IFP Youth Brigade demands of Social Development Minister, Susan Shabangu, to ensure that social services are strengthened to assist families and communities to care for and protect children.
We cannot allow the future generation of our country’s leaders to be left out in the cold. Enough is enough. We must all work together to protect our little ones and ensure that they lead a life of value, free from the injustices of the past.
