Condolence Statement on the Passing of Hon. Lungile Mnganga-Gcabashe on Behalf of the IFP Women’s Brigade

May 18, 2025 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party Women’s Brigade, is deeply saddened by the passing of Honourable Lungile Mnganga-Gcabashe, the Deputy President of the ANC Women’s League and leader and member of the African National Congress (ANC), whose life was defined by service, compassion, and dedication to the people of South Africa.

In this moment of grief, we extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Mnganga and Gcabashe families, her loved ones, and the entire leadership and membership of the ANCWL. The pain of losing someone who played such a vital role in her community is one that resonates across political lines, and we mourn alongside you.

Hon. Mnganga-Gcabashe’s contribution to public life, particularly in championing the rights and upliftment of women, is a legacy that will endure far beyond her time with us. As a woman of conviction, she stood firm in her beliefs, led with integrity, and carried herself with the kind of dignity and grace that inspired those around her.

As IFP Women’s Brigade, we honour her memory not only as a political peer but as a sister in the shared struggle for a more equal and just South Africa. We recognise that behind the political colours that distinguish us, we are united in our humanity, in our love for our country, and in our hopes for its future.

We pray for strength and comfort for her family and all who were touched by her life. May her soul rest in peace, and may her spirit live on in the many lives she impacted.

Hamba kahle Dadewethu!
