HON MRS NJ NKWANYANA MPL, KZN LEGISLATURE

Somlomo,

iQembu iNkatha Freedom Party nakuba likuncoma ukusukuma kukaNdunankulu uMacingwane ekutheni angenelele odabeni lwezinkinga ezibhekene noMnyango weZempilo kodwa sesihambile isikhathi ukuthi uNdunankulu angaqhamuka manje seliyozilahla kunina athi uzotakula lomnyango ekubeni kade kwasa kubikwa ngawo ukuthi awenzi kahle. Okusidumaza kakhulu Ndunankulu ukuthi iQembu leNkatha likubhalile incwadi likunxusa ukuba ungenelele kodwa waziba esingazike noma ubukwenza lokho ngoba ubukela phansi yini iqembu leNkatha noma ulithatha kancane. Lokhu okwenziwa uMacingwane kufana ncimishi nokuzobhonga emswaneni. Yekani ukufukamela izehluleki ngoba nakhu nje zibizwa ngama-comrades. Abusebenzi ubu-comrade uma kumele kulungiswe izinkinga ezihlupha abantu. Asazike noma uNdunankulu usukunyuswe ukuthi iKhomishana YamaLungelo abantu iveze amahlazo ngezinkinga ezibhekene nomnyango wezempilo.

Kuyichilo elikhulu ukuthi kungaze kubhikishe odokotela ngenxa yokwehluleka komnyango ukuxazulula izinkinga ezibhedlela. Umbhikisho wakamumva obubanjwe amalungu enhlangano iSouth African Medical Association (Sama) wokukhononda ngemishini eyephukile ezibhedlela kanye nokushoda kwabasebenzi bezempilo kuwubufakazi obuqanda ikhanda ukuthi izinto zimapeketwane emnyangweni wezempilo.

Babekhona ngaphambilini ongqongqoshe abebephethe umnyango weZempilo. Sasikhala ngabo sithi abenzi kahle kodwa uma uqhathanisa izenzo zabo kanye nezikaDinangwe sengathi sasibabaza ubala singakaboni lutho. Ngabe uma kufundwa umlando wakho Dinangwe eqenjini lakho kanye nasemphakathini nje umuntu uyazibuza ukuthi uyokhunjulwa ngamaphi amagalelo akho. Yena-ke uNdunankulu okonakala izinto ebhekile kothiwa waba uNdunankulu onjani? Impela kudela owaziyo.

As the IFP we challenge the ANC provincial leadership to choose between saving people’s lives or the KZN Health MEC Dr S’bongiseni Dhlomo.

It is high time NOW for the ANC provincial leadership to make a hard decision of whether it save lives for people who are affected by the shortage of oncologists, and broken CT scanners in public hospitals or it prefers to allow Dr Sbongiseni Dhlomo to continue as an MEC although he has failed dismally to provide bold leadership in his department.

It is either the people of KwaZulu-Natal or Dr Dhlomo. We have raised several concerns in the past about the poor state of services offered by provincial hospitals but the KZN MEC of Health, Dr Sbongiseni Dhlomo is turning a blind eye and our concerns are falling on deaf eyes. It is clear that the lack of basic resources in our hospitals have reached critical levels.

We choose our leaders and, as a society, trust them to manage the resources we give them: our tax money, our skills, and our time. We expect them to use these resources to people’s advantage, to keep them safe and happy. The public health system is failing in this regard. It’s a waste of time to point fingers at a few miserable pawns.

Much of the blame for the deterioration in medical care must rest on the Department of Health. The general rot has seeped into and is consuming the medical community. The calamity that our degenerating health sector has become is an inevitable consequence of chronic poor planning, poor leadership and poor regulation.

Comprehensive restoration of the health care sector will need more than the telling tales of woes about hospitals and the lampooning of doctors. Senior government officials live with and are comforted by the delusion that they can always get to their preferred hospitals abroad that’s why they fail to address problems.

I thank you
