KZN LEGISLATURE, 21 NOVEMBER 2017

Hon Speaker

The IFP notes that the benefits of the Superannuation Fund were substantially better than those of the Retirement Fund, in that spouses and beneficiaries of deceased employees received benefits, whilst this did not apply to the Retirement Fund.

Accordingly, the main focus of the Bill is to remove all discrimination, and to ensure that the benefits are exactly the same for the two Pension Funds, subject only to the contribution paid by the employee at his or her own choice.

The IFP supports the Bill.
