Debate on Third Adjustment Appropriation Bill, 2018

Mar 29, 2018 | Press Releases

KwaZulu-Natal Legislature; Pietermaritzburg

Hon. Speaker; the allocation of almost R340m towards our Department of Education is good news indeed. Hence the IFP fully supports the Third Adjustments Appropriation Bill before this House.

We also support in to the Report tabled by the Chairperson of Finance because it encapsulates all the concerns we have with regards to the Bill.

Hon. Speaker the Education Department shoulders a pivotal role towards liberating our people from the jaws of ignorance, unemployment and poverty. Unfortunately, we have not reached a stage where this Department receives allocation that is commensurate with its responsibilities; this despite the responsibilities it carries.

This allocation will therefore help the Department to deal with a number of challenges it faces.

I thank you
