Human Settlements Must Prioritize Rebuilding of Knysna Homes

Jun 15, 2017 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party extends its heartfelt condolences to the residents of Knysna who lost loved ones and property in the recent savage wild fires that swept through the area.

IFP spokesperson on Human Settlements, Mr KP Sithole, MP, said , “Our hearts are with the people of Knysna and we will be doing all that we can in order to ensure that an urgent and adequate government response is immediately actioned by the Department of Human Settlements,”

“It is reported that the rebuild could take up to 5 years to complete which means that alternative accommodation must be provided for those who now find themselves homeless. This is not only a moral, but also a constitutional obligation upon the state, and government should therefore enact any legislation necessary in order to provide the immediate housing relief that is required,” concluded Sithole, MP.
