IFP: ANC Loses to IFP in Jozini By Election

Apr 5, 2018 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party once again wins a by-election by an overwhelming majority in Ward 2 Jozini.

“The landslide victory of 1451 votes is once again a clear indication that the IFP remains the people’s choice because the IFP really is the party they can trust. We thank God for being Merciful to us as the ANC tried their level best to frustrate and disrupt everything using their 50 per cent quarter of power but in spite of that we still won the ward.

The ANC got 851 votes, NFP 101 votes, EFF 41 votes, UDM 23 votes, NPA 18 votes and Independent got 15 votes and at Nkangala voting station we had a tie of 295 which merely says that the IFP is back in the game and things can change in 2019.

Although the IEC has not released the official results due to some technical problems in one of the Telkom transformers in Richards Bay but according to the manual counting the IFP won the by election. We are humbled by the confidence and trust the people of Jozini have placed in our organisation,” said IFP National Chairperson, Mr Blessed Gwala MPL.

“These results reaffirm the confidence and faith that people have in the IFP and its leadership. We extend our gratitude to all those who came out in their numbers to vote for the IFP as this demonstrates a continuous show of rising confidence in the party,” continued Mr Gwala.

“We want to thank our President, His Excellency Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi for his leadership and dedication to ensure that the party’s support is growing. We also want to thank all our supporters and volunteers as well as our leaders including those in the uMkhanyakude District for their commitment to building and strengthening the IFP on the ground,” concluded Mr Gwala.
