IFP: Call to Action after Damning Report Into Racism at Grosvenor Girls High School

Jul 11, 2022 | Press Releases

The IFP in the KZN Legislature calls upon the KZN MEC for Education, Kwazi Mshengu, to take immediate action against those implicated in the damning findings from an investigation into claims of racism at Grosvenor Girls High School in Bluff, south of Durban.

As the IFP, we welcome the Report released to the public by the KZN MEC for Education, Kwazi Mshengu. However, now the MEC must act accordingly, without further delay, and the principal of Grosvenor High School, who has been described as an “architect” of racism, must be fired immediately.

We further support the recommendation made by the independent panel that the principal must be charged with misconduct for the irregular appointment of employees, as well as financial irregularities.

Further, racism has no place in our schools or in our society. Government has a duty to take concrete steps targeted at ending discrimination and ensuring equality. Anything less is a failure of our legal and policing system and a de facto accommodation of racism.
