IFP calls for decisive action following the senseless murder of 4 siblings near Pinetown

Sep 5, 2019 | Press Releases

The IFP is shocked and deeply saddened by the gruesome deaths of 4 siblings allegedly at the hands of their father. These senseless murders of young and vulnerable children is testimony to the erosion of our country’s moral and social fabric and the blatant disregard for the rule of law. It is alleged that the father killed the 3 younger siblings aged 4, 6 and 10 who were found hanged at their home while the 16 year old was found hanged in a bush in New Germany.

“These senseless murders at the hands of a man who should have protected his children comes in the wake of numerous violent and horrific crimes perpetrated against women and children and should be strongly condemned. These innocent children trusted a man who cruelly and prematurely snuffed out their lives” said Les Govender. ” There is no place for such men or any other perpetrators of violent and senseless crimes in a moral society and we call for swift justice to prevail in the aftermath of such sadness and devastation. We make a clarion call for public awareness programmes by the Department of Social Development to highlight what is happening in our communities. There is an urgent need for the establishment of centres where people who are experiencing depression can turn to for assistance.
We also record our condolences to the mother of these children, their family and friends” concluded Govender.
