IFP calls for investigation as teachers are not remunerated

May 1, 2020 | Press Releases

The IFP is disconcerted by recieving the distasteful  news that numerous  teachers did not recieve their salaries and some were paid half salaries today.

In the midst of the novel Corona virus frustration, the IFP receieved complains that a number of Grade R teachers from Ugu Municipality will go to bed with empty stomachs as they were not remunerated. Some teachers in eThekwini are alleged to have only been paid half salaries.

The IFP view this as an unjust act from Department of Education and calls for an urgent investigation  behind the abrupt halt of teachers monthly salaries. This is such a disheartening experience in the midst of Covid 19 frustration and devastation. What makes this even more frustrating is that it is happening in  the wake of the nationwide  schools re-opening proposal.

We view this as an unscrupulous act that could have been avoided by all means. We advise the department to relate issues of this nature  to teachers and their unions to avoid frustration, confusion and surprises.
