The IFP has called on government and Traditional leadership to lead the Spiritual, moral and Cultural Revolution to return communities to their roots and values of Ubuntu-botho in order to ensure the reduction of crime and other social vices. The party said this in a Motion tabled at the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature yesterday in Pietermaritzburg. Speaking on behalf of the IFP, party MPL Joshua Mazibuko said:
“This House notes with sadness that we begin the 16-Days-of-Activism-against-violence-on-Women-and-children against the background of ever-increasing ruthless and brutal acts of violence on our women and children.
“Undoubtedly this indicates that we, as a society have been seriously dehumanised and have lost all sense of Ubuntu and values which formed the foundation of our communities.”
Mazibuko went on to say: “This House resolves to call on government, indigenous, religious and community leaders, parents and all communities to join hands in initiating intense Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Revolution which must take our people back to our roots and revive the values of Ubuntu-botho.”
