The IFP is deeply saddened by yet another incident at Sibanye-Stillwater Gold Mine which has led to the death of 3 miners. IFP Deputy National Spokesperson Joshua Mazibuko said “it is not the first time Sibanye-Stillwater Gold Mine is in the news for very unfortunate reasons. In February about 1000 miners were trapped underground and later rescued. In May four miners lost their lives in the same mine. Now, 3 miners have lost their lives.
“All these incidents point to something that needs deeper investigation. We therefore call on the government to quickly pay a particular attention to this mine before the worst happens.
“Our hearts go to the families and friends of the deceased”
