IFP Calls For Investigation Into Train Accident In Durban

Jun 24, 2016 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party expresses its concern regarding the train accident near Lamontville south of Durban that left scores of people injured.

“It is extremely worrying that over 100 people have been injured in this unfortunate incident. Whilst the cause of the accident is not known at this stage, we call for a thorough investigation into why two trains travelling in opposite directions were on the same track. The investigation must reveal if the accident was as a result of human error or if there was some mechanical malfunction. The possibility of sabotage of railway equipment must not be ruled out during the investigation.

We wish those who were injured a speedy recovery and thank the emergency services personnel for their quick and efficient response”, said IFP National Chairman, Mr Blessed Gwala MPL.
