IFP Calls for Investigation into the Use of Government Letter Head by ANCYL

Sep 29, 2017 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party has raised its grave concerns about the abuse of government resources by the ANC Youth League members in Melmoth to organise community meetings in order to pursue its political ambitions.

“We have discovered that ANCYL members ZN Xulu and MF Ntenga have used the Department of Health’s letter head with St Mary’s KwaMagwaza Hospital logo to invite people to attend a community meeting scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday 30th September 2017 to address concerns about shortage of medication, prescription of expired medication and non-availability of immunisation at Umbiza Clinic, “said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala MPL.

“Although we are not against any community engagement by any political party but we are against the abuse of government resources to pursue individual and political agendas. What the ANCYL in KZN is doing is anyone’s guess since it is illegal for any political organization to use government letter heads. It is completely illegal to use government resources for political gain. The IFP will not permit this to continue without being exposed and challenged.
We expect the MEC of Health in KZN, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo to urgently investigate this matter in order to ascertain who granted permission to the ANCYL to use this letter head. A thorough investigation must also be conducted at St Mary’s KwaMagwaza Hospital. Anyone found to be guilty in this matter must be held accountable.

“Furthermore, we demand that the investigation must also be conducted into reports that KZN Legislature jackets were recently sold at the KZN Youth Parliament and Women’s Parliament which were delivered in a vehicle branded with the ANC Youth League’s logo,” concluded Mr Gwala.

The IFP calls on the legitimate leadership of the ANC to take necessary action against its Youth League members. In addition, the IFP expects the ANC to be vocal in this matter because if it was IFP members involved in such a matter the ANC would have called for action to be taken.
