IFP Celebrates South Africa’s Most Respected Statesman

Aug 26, 2016 | Press Releases

On behalf of the Inkatha Freedom Party, the IFP’s Parliamentary Caucus expresses it warmest good wishes to IFP President Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP as he celebrates his birthday on Saturday 27 August.

We are proud to serve South Africa under the leadership of our country’s most respected statesman. From his various leadership positions, Prince Buthelezi has guided our nation with wisdom, integrity and skill for more than six decades. It is testimony to his political acumen that the party he founded remains strong and relevant four decades later.

We admire his strength of character, and his seemingly endless energy, which saw him lead another election campaign in the last few months. The results of that election speak of a leader who has earned the trust of South Africa over many years. He has never let us down, and continues to faithfully serve our nation according to his calling.

As he celebrates his birthday, the IFP honours Prince Buthelezi and thanks him for the remarkable example he has been to all of us as we seek to serve South Africa. We remember his legacy in pursuit of freedom, reconciliation, social justice and peace. He is, indeed, one of the great protagonists in the story of South Africa’s freedom.

As we wish him a very happy birthday, we also express our appreciation to his family, particularly to his beloved wife, Princess Irene Buthelezi, and to their children. We know that they have sacrificed to lend this great man to our nation. We cannot thank them enough.

We pray that the Lord will continue to bless His faithful servant. May Prince Buthelezi experience all the happiness he so richly deserves on this special day.
