The IFP in KwaZulu-Natal challenges the KZN Premier, Senzo Mchunu to stop delivering empty promises, and start delivering outcomes.
“It is critical that this State of the Province Address (SOPA) break from the tedious annual recital of rehashed national ANC policy, and delivers a sustainable plan of action to deal with the high rates of unemployment, slack in economic growth, the scourge of corruption and the disastrous state of provincial and local government service delivery” said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala, MPL.
The IFP also hopes the Premier will remove staff in municipalities who do not comply with the National Treasury’s minimum competency regulations.
“We want to hear about services and job creation, and not only temporary EPWP jobs. This SOPA should not focus only on good stories or new promises, because every citizen in KZN knows of the level of corruption this province is faced with and how it hinders progress” continued Mr Gwala.
The IFP expects the Premier to speak on what his government will do to create incentive schemes to attract more investment and filling all vacant posts in government institutions.
“The IFP want Premier Senzo Mchunu to outline his plans on how to deal with various departments and municipalities that are unable to deliver on their core mandates and a decisive plan on how to address the collapsing health system and a backlog of basic services such as sanitation, water, housing and electricity,” concluded Mr Gwala.
The KZN Province is at a cross-roads, and decisive action is needed to halt the steady decline in living standards experienced by the province’s citizens and the IFP hopes that a new dawn will break over KZN , bringing an end to poverty and despair.
