IFP Conveys Its Condolences On The Passing Of The Late Hon. Dene Smuts

Apr 22, 2016 | Press Releases

It is with great sadness that the Inkatha Freedom Party has learned of the passing of Ms Dene Smuts, former Member of Parliament and member of the Democratic Alliance.

We will remember her as a truly great South African and parliamentarian who contributed immensely to the negotiations that led to the new South Africa, as well as her immense contributions in post-democratic South Africa, serving as a member of Parliament for 20 years.

At Parliament she made profound contributions in her role as shadow minister for home affairs‚ communications‚ and justice and constitutional development. One of her greatest achievements of course was that she was appointed the DA’s first female Whip.

Our deepest condolences go to her family, friends and the Democratic Alliance. May they find solace in God.

We will always remember her as a truly great South African and Parliamentarian.
