IFP extends condolences on passing of Mary Twala

Jul 6, 2020 | Press Releases

The IFP extends its sincere and most heartfelt condolences on the passing of legendary South African actor, Mary Twala.

We extend our condolences during this time of bereavement to Somizi Mhlongo, immediate and extended family, to her friends, and to the South African family, at this time of deep grief and sadness.

Mama Mary towered amongst giants, and distinguished herself as a timeless South African great, whose talent brought people together.

She was truly a remarkable woman; and few could match her grit!

Her role in the entertainment industry was recognised last year, when she received the Order of Ikhamanga from President Cyril Ramaphosa. Her contribution to the arts will forever be remembered and her legacy lives on.

We have lost a South African icon and a legend in the creative arts.

May her soul forever rest in perfect peace. Lala Ngoxolo.
