IFP Gauteng Message on the Passing of IFP Founder and President Emeritus, His Excellency Prince MG Buthelezi, MP

Sep 9, 2023 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in Gauteng notes with utter sadness the news that our Party’s Founding Father and President Emeritus, His Excellency Prince MG Buthelezi MP, passed away this Saturday morning, 09 September 2023.

The passing of His Excellency is an immeasurable loss: not only to the IFP but also to his immediate family, the Buthelezi Clan, the Kingdom of the Zulu Nation, and our country as a whole.

As an astute statesman and leader, the Prince of KwaPhindangene dedicated over seven decades of his life to public service.

His long life and legacy speak of a deep and unwavering dedication to the quest for social justice; unquestionable integrity, and of being a loyal and faithful servant leader to the people. Prince Buthelezi was the true embodiment the IFP’s ethos and value of Ubuntu/Botho, never ceasing to share his wisdom with anyone willing to learn from him, even his fiercest opponents. Indeed, his is a legacy that will continue to linger in the history of our nation, not because it is recorded in the history books, but because it is etched in our hearts and souls.

Undoubtedly, Shenge will continue to inspire many future generations, both within our borders and outside our country. As the IFP Gauteng, we are overwhelmed with grief at the departure of His Excellency. In the same breadth, we take solace in the fact that he lived an exceptional life and served as an outstanding leader.

Our hearts go out to Party members and supporters, the Buthelezi Clan, the Zulu Kingdom, and the entire nation.

Lala ngokuthula Shenge, uyibekile induku ebandla. Sohlezi sikukhumbula.
