IFP in Gauteng Welcomes new SAPS Commissioner

Feb 6, 2019 | Press Releases

IFP in Gauteng has noted the appointment of Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela as  Gauteng’s new Police Commissioner. We welcome this appointment with the hope that Lieutenant-General Mawela will use his vast experience to bring the much-required leadership and stability to the police department in the province.

Crime remains a thorn in the flesh of many communities in Gauteng therefore we hope that we can count on Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela’s impressive track record to ‘nail criminals’ and ensure that Gauteng becomes a safe and secure province.

We urge the new Commissioner to work meticulously in restoring the lost confidence on the police’s ability to deal efficiently with crime. It is high time that Gauteng finally achieve its ideal of becoming a safe and secure environment where people can live their lives without any fear of falling victim to crime.
