The IFP in KwaZulu-Natal would like to thank the people of eMadlankala, in Ward 12 of uMhlathuze, for trusting us with their vote in a crucial and highly contested by-election that took place yesterday.
The highly populated Ward was fiercely contested by the IFP, ANC, EFF and the CCU.
Since the dawn of our democracy, Ward 12 has always been under the stewardship of the ANC, as this Ward is a former ANC stronghold.
The IFP’s victory in this Ward is a sign of things to come in 2024. It is proof that the people of KZN are desperate for change and are rejecting the unethical and self-serving leadership that has come to characterise the ruling party, and which has plunged this province into mismanagement and corruption.
Voters continue to reject the arrogant ANC, which no longer cares for the people of this province.
The IFP’s resounding victory in uMhlathuze reflects the confidence that the people of this province have in the IFP.
These sentiments have been evident too in recent by-elections in uMvoti, uMfolozi uMthonjaneni, and now in uMhlathuze, where voters have outrightly abandoned the ANC for the IFP.
The IFP has won Ward 12 with a clear majority, beating the ANC, EFF and CCU with more than 460 votes, having received close to 2 200 votes.
On the IFP’s road towards this astounding victory, the ANC in this province tried countless times to smear the image of the IFP.
The ANC has been doing this through frivolous media statements with baseless accusations against the IFP.
Clearly the ANC could see that the people of Madlankala, Ward 12, no longer had confidence in it. Instead of letting a democratic process unfold, they fabricated many lies. However, the people of uMhlathuze have now spoken for themselves.
The IFP commits to working hard to deliver the best services to the people of Ward 12 in uMhlathuze and the entire province.
The IFP’s founder and President Emeritus, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP, has taught us to be servant leaders and to put the people’s needs ahead of everything else. We shall continue to do that in Ward 12, in the service of our people.
