IFP Honours South African Women

Aug 9, 2024 | Press Releases

Hon. VF Hlabisa, MP
President of the IFP

As we remember and honour the brave heroines of 1956 on Women’s Day today, the IFP would like to take this opportunity to honour all South African women.

Women remain the backbone of the IFP, and our society as a whole.

In fact, it is the female leaders of the IFP that led from the front in the IFP’s successful 2024 election campaign. And it is our mothers, aunts, sisters and grandmothers who are raising the next generation that will lead South Africa.

To all of you, we say thank you.

While we celebrate our female leaders and citizens today, we know that the fight for justice is far from over.

While women remain on the fringes of the economy, while women still earn less than men and while women remain victims of gender-based violence, we acknowledge that the status quo cannot continue.

As the President of the IFP, I intend making sure that we do much more to protect women. Not only where the IFP governs, but through the policies and programs of Government as well.

We must recommit ourselves today to do more to achieve true and meaningful equality. On behalf of the IFP, I make that commitment.
