IFP: KZN MEC of Health Must Also Resign

Dec 8, 2017 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu-Natal calls on the KZN MEC of Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo must also resign like the Head of the Health Depart, Dr S’fiso Mtshali.

“We were shocked to learn that Dr Sifiso Mtshali, the KZN Head of Department of Health has resigned. Now it is high time for MEC Dhlomo to follow suit. His epic incompetence resulted in a total collapse of the Health Department. The department is a nationwide laughing stock courtesy of its blunders and incompetent MEC. He should be ashamed of his incompetence. He must resign,” said IFP KZN Provincial Spokesperson on Health, Mrs Ncamisile Nkwanyana MPL.

“As Members of the Health Portfolio Committee we are still waiting for the MEC to tell us why the Head of Department was place on suspension in the first place? We also want the MEC to tell us what are the real reasons that led to the resignation of the Head of Department?

The department of health is in shambles as now there is no HOD and the CFO position has been vacant for more than two years. The department has failed to appoint the permanent CFO. These vacant posts are critical and they are the engine room of the department. Without competent staff in these positions the department will collapse.

We are convinced that Dr Mtshali was pushed to resign so that an incompetent ANC cadre be appointed,” continued Mrs Nkwanyana.

“We hope that the KZN Premier, Willies Mchunu can also exact the same pressure to incompetent and failing MEC’s in his cabinet. We would like to see MEC of Health, Dr Dhlomo also being held accountable for his failures,” concluded Mrs Nkwanyana.
