Note to editors: On Friday, 25 October 2019 the IFP KZN Provincial Council held its ordinary meeting in Melmoth whereby strategic resolutions have been deliberated on and passed by the council geared towards the IFP’s role in Local Government and the KZN Provincial Legislature ahead of the 2021 Elections.
The Provincial Council together with the National Executive Council (NEC) and Political Oversight Committee will lead an initiative to assess the state of affairs of IFP governed municipalities and all IFP Caucuses, this assessment is key in meeting our objectives as we gear up towards the Local Government Election in 2021.
The Provincial Council also resolved that all IFP governed municipalities conduct their work and services consistently in keeping with the IFP manifesto and charged all municipalities towards receiving clean audit outcomes.
The Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) met with the IFP KZN Legislature Caucus to ensure synchronization of party work in the province in our role as the Official Opposition and that showcase our policy and governance alternatives to the people of KwaZulu-Natal.
The Provincial Council have agreed to the formation of Local Government Election Sub-Committees to ensure that all the components of the 2021 election campaign and machinery are considered and prioritized.
Among many other resolutions passed, the Provincial Council committed itself to working with the IFP Youth Brigade towards the establishment of new South African Democratic Students Movement (SADESMO) branches and accelerating efforts towards igniting growth and support for SADESMO. Its repositioning at Institutions of Higher Learning is a key focus area for the province.
The Provincial Council reaffirmed that our values of unity and solidarity remain key pillars to ensure further growth for the party and in keeping to our core mandate of serving all South Africans.
The Provincial Council noted with appreciation the smoothness of the leadership transition process emanating out of the IFP National General Conference held in August 2019 and paid a special tribute to IFP President Emeritus, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP, for his leadership, sacrifice and service to the IFP and South Africa.
The Provincial Council also expressed its active support to IFP President, Velenkosini Hlabisa MPL, the NEC and the National Council following their respective elections in August.
The IFP is committed to ensuring that real social and economic justice is achieved in our country through reigniting efforts of local government to cut corruption, create jobs and deliver efficient, effective and dignified services to all South Africans.
