The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) joins the nation in mourning the untimely passing of Ms Dumisile Manana Mthalane, the beloved lead singer of the renowned Maskandi group, Imithente, who departed this life on Sunday, 27 April 2025.
Isitsha esihle asidleli!
Ms Manana-Mthalane was more than just a gifted artist — she was a custodian of our culture, a proud voice of our traditions, and a bridge between generations through the power of music. Her contribution to Maskandi music and the preservation of our rich Zulu heritage is immeasurable.
Through her voice and artistry, Manana touched countless lives and brought comfort, pride, and identity to many South Africans. Her passing is a deep loss not only to the music industry but to the broader cultural community and the nation as a whole.
The IFP conveys its heartfelt condolences to the Mthalane family, her colleagues in Imithente, the Maskandi music community, and all who were inspired by her life and work. May you find strength and comfort during this time of sorrow.
We honour Manana Mthalane’s legacy, and we commit ourselves to continue supporting the preservation of our cultural treasures, which she so passionately championed.
We are poorer without her!
