IFP National Spokesperson
The IFP extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of party stalwart and former Acting National Chairperson Dr Bhekisisa “BV” Mthethwa (61).
Dr Mthethwa served the IFP in the capacity of Acting National Chairperson 2011-2012. He was also the former Mayor and Speaker of the uThungulu District Municipality, where he also served as the Chairperson of the IFP in that district.
Dr Mthethwa served diligently on the National Council, the Party’s highest decision making body in between conferences.
Dr Mthethwa’s health took an unexpected turn for the worst earlier today, after a long illness.
He was an accomplished politician, historian and scholar and occasionally delivered lectures to party structures.
He loved South Africa and cared very deeply for our People and our democracy and was an avid supporter of the IFP principles of self-help and self-reliance.
He was sincerely committed and dedicated to our country and its future.
The IFP wishes to thank his family for allowing him the time away from family duties to dedicate his work and time to the IFP, South Africa and academia.
On behalf of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who has lost a trusted lieutenant and the entire IFP family we send our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to his family; and all who knew him well and can attest to his character.
The IFP mourns a loyal, dedicated and loyal leader!
Another hero has fallen.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
