The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) expresses its deepest sorrow and shock following the tragic discovery of the bodies of three South African Police Service (SAPS) officers in Centurion, after they had been missing for several days, and the two other victims who were found along with them.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the grieving families, loved ones, and colleagues of the deceased officers. This devastating development has cast a dark shadow over our nation, and it underscores the extraordinary risks faced by those who serve in law enforcement.
As the IFP, we honour the memory of these officers and pay tribute to their dedication and service. We call on the relevant authorities to conduct a full and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding their disappearance and untimely deaths. The families of the officers must be given every form of support and comfort during this incredibly difficult time.
This tragedy is another reminder of the urgent need to strengthen the safety, protection, and mental well-being of our police officers. We urge government, civil society, and all South Africans to stand united in support of those who put their lives on the line to keep us safe.
May the souls of these officers rest in eternal peace. We hold their families in our thoughts and prayers.
