IFP: Why are there No New Teaching Posts for KwaZulu Natal Schools in 2018?

Jan 24, 2018 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party is extremely concerned at the continuing educational crisis at schools in the province of Kwa Zulu Natal.

IFP Spokesperson on Basic Education, Mr Xolani Ngwezi, MP, said, “Schools in the province are in state of crisis as no new teaching posts have been created by the Department due to stated budgetary constraints for 2018,”

“The situation is dire, not only for the many unemployed teachers in the province, but also for the learners who now find themselves in certain instances being taught by teachers unqualified to teach particular subjects, or in classes that are filled beyond capacity due to the shortage of teaching staff at schools,”

“Jeopardizing the success of learners through such departmental budgetary mismanagement is unconscionable and must be reviewed with the necessary budgetary adjustments being effected. The IFP will continue to call for urgent and immediate review of the departmental position which states that no new posts will be created for 2018,” concluded Ngwezi, MP.
