IFP President condemns Sri Lankan attacks

Apr 22, 2019 | Press Releases

The IFP President Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP has condemned the eight bomb attacks which struck at least three churches in Sri Lanka, along with three hotels killing 290 people and injuring over 500 people on Easter Sunday.

The IFP affirms that religious intolerance, terrorism and any form of discrimination has no place in the global community.

We reiterate our calls for building a socially cohesive world based on our values of ubuntu/botho.

We mourn with the people of Sri Lanka at this time of crisis and we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, loved ones and travellers who have been affected by this heinous act, which sought to destroy the open and inclusive values of the Sri Lankan nation.

We welcome the 24 arrests made by the Sri Lankan police authorities in connection with this act of terrorism and it is our hope that the many affected will find closure as soon as the investigation concludes.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Sri Lanka.
