NatureLife International, a foundation in support of the Environment, Education and Sustainability, has announced its intention to award IFP President, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi MP, with the NatureLife International Environment Award for 2015.
The award is in recognition of Prince Buthelezi’s exceptional work in the preservation of our natural and cultural heritage, but more particularly for his work towards protecting the UNESCO World Heritage Site, St. Lucia, in KwaZulu Natal.
Dipl. Engineer Ulf Doerner will also be honoured. He has been an ambassador for nature conservation in South Africa for many years, and coordinated the global campaign to “Save St. Lucia”.
Former winners of the NatureLife Environment Award include mountaineer Reinhold Messner, actor Hannes Jaenicke, American actress Stefanie Powers, and the British composer and bandleader Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull).
His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Wales and former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev have also been honoured by NatureLife for their commitment to Nature, Environment and Sustainable Development.
The President of NatureLife International, Dr Claus Peter-Hutter, will travel from Germany to hand over the award to Prince Buthelezi during a ceremony to be held in Northern KwaZulu Natal on Friday, 5 February 2016.
