IFP REMARKS ON THE EXECUTIVE STATEMENT ON RATIONALISATION OF PROVINCIAL PUBLIC ENTITIES PRESENTED BY KWAZULU-NATAL MEC FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, TOURISM AND ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS, HON. S. ZIKALALA

Debate by: Hon. Mbongeleni Joshua Mazibuko; IFP MPL
KwaZulu-Natal Legislature; Pietermaritzburg

Hon. Speaker and Hon. Members; as a matter of principle the IFP supports the rationalization of Provincial Public entities as presented by Hon. MEC Sihle Zikalala. We support it because to us “a rose by any other name smells as sweet.”

Hence to us rationalization is not closing down because your dictionary will tell you that rationalization has nothing to do with closing something down; rather it is about “making something more effective…” Therefore we have no problem with the rationalization of Mjindi as long as it will continue to be engaged in the struggle for the emancipation of our people.

Likewise, with the Royal Household Trust; we believe that it will continue to achieve the objective for which it was made which is to enhance and maintain the dignity of His Majesty the King and the Royal Household.

As our last contribution we wish to say that we are worried that at times the ANC government comes up with positive programs and concepts. However the dilly-dally when it comes to implementation. They get distracted by several forces within the ANC which serve different interests. We hope that the Hon. MEC will not be distracted; but will be doggedly committed to the implementation.

I thank You
