IFP Statement: Filling of Mayoral Vacancies

The IFP NEC at its meeting on Saturday, 29 March 2025 resolved that the mayoral vacancies which exist in IFP led municipalities be filled as follows:

UMzinyathi District Municipality:
The Acting Mayor Cllr Thembisile Mchunu will assume the position of Mayor and the new Deputy Mayor is Cllr Nothile Zungu.

Nkandla Local Municipality:
The Acting Mayor Cllr Nonhlanhla Nzuza will assume the position of Mayor and the new Deputy Mayor is Cllr Nokuthula Magubane.

AmaJuba District Municipality:
The Acting Mayor Cllr Thembelihle Mthembu will assume the position of Mayor and the new Deputy Mayor will be Cllr Isaac Sithole.

The IFP extends its congratulations to these newly appointed leaders and wishes them well as they take on their responsibilities. We expect them to hit the ground running in fulfilling their duties and serving the needs of the people with dedication, integrity, and accountability.

The IFP reaffirms its commitment to good governance and effective municipal management.
