IFP Statement on Allegations Against the Deputy Mayor of Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality

Jun 12, 2022 | Press Releases

The IFP has noted with serious concern the allegations of involvement in a cash-in-transit heist levelled against the Deputy Mayor of Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality.

The information before the Party at this stage suggests that the allegations are baseless and without merit, as the Hawks have stated that they not been able to positively link the Deputy Mayor to the alleged crime; however the Deputy Mayor will present himself to the police tomorrow.

The IFP expects the law enforcement agencies to follow all necessary legal due process in investigating this matter to bring it to a logical legal conclusion with the necessary urgency.

The IFP reserves its right to invoke disciplinary processes at any moment should the need arise, and accordingly the Party will be keeping a close eye on this matter.

The IFP reiterates its commitment to good governance and ethical leadership, especially from its elected representatives.
