IFP Statement on Passing of Ugu District Mayor and Municipal Manager

Jan 16, 2023 | Press Releases

The IFP extends its heartfelt condolences to the people of Ugu District Municipality, following the passing of the Mayor, Ms Phumlile Mthiyane, as well as the Municipal Manager, Dr Elliot Ntombela, both in the space of a few days.

Our thoughts and prayers are particularly with the loved ones, family, and colleagues of both Mayor Mthiyane, as well as Dr Ntombela.

May their souls rest in peace.

Our political differences with the Mayor notwithstanding, the IFP had a collegial working relationship with her, understanding that the people’s needs and interests came first.

Further, as the Municipality and its people process these tragic losses in the coming days, the IFP and its Councillors in Ugu will stand ready to provide support to Municipality Leadership.
