Inkatha freedom Party has strongly condemned the murder of Mangosuthu University of Technology’s Quantity Surveying female student who as allegedly shot by her former boyfriend who is also an ex-student of the same University last Tuesday. According to reports, the female student was shot dead at MUT’s Lonsdale residence at 11h00 on May 1. The alleged murderer was found with an unlicensed firearm and was arrested. IFP Deputy National Spokesperson Joshua Mazibuko said:
“The IFP was shocked to learn that a young female student of Mangosuthu University of Technology was gunned down at the University’s Lonsdale residence, allegedly by her former boyfriend and ex-student of the same University on May 1. We were further shocked to learn that both the female student and ex-student were associated with SADESMO and were members of the IFP Youth Brigade.
“As the IFP, we wish firstly to register our unequivocal and strong condemnation of this dastardly act. Again this was yet another evidence of the escalating wickedness of femicide in our country. All sane and patriotic South Africans must display their anger against and condemnation of this evil.
“The fact that both students were members of the IFP further deepens our sadness for the victim and disgust at the act. As a party, we unwaveringly disassociate ourselves from such conduct which we abhor and label as clearly “un-IFP.” We call on all IFP members and supporters to stand behind our fallen Comrade and her bereaved family.
“We are however comforted to know that the law has acted to apprehend the alleged murderer and he has appeared in court. We urge law-enforcement agencies to do all in their power to ensure that justice is seen to be done in this case and that – in the event of conviction – the sentence will be such that all would-be female-murderers will find such acts too costly to pursue.
Lastly, our hearts go to the family of the young Comrade who was ruthlessly robbed of her life.”
