The IFP fully supports the calls for a more equitable decent living wage for all security guards in the employ by the private sector.

We are aware of the current negotiations taking place with various stakeholders and we call on the private security industry to pull their weight in improving not only the salary of security personnel but the conditions under which their members serve.

The IFP views the private security industry as a partner in fighting the scourge of crime and violence in our country and the industry plays a complimentary role in supporting the clampdown on crime together with the South African Police Service, Community Policing Fora and our institutions of justice.

However, as we welcome the initiatives taken by the private sector, we are not in support of the private security industry only increasing its profits yet exploiting security guards who serve on the frontline and put their lives at risk daily for the betterment of our entire society.

Therefore, the IFP calls on the private security industry to amicably resolve the current wage disputes and negotiations with labour unions as this matter is in the interest of our country and its safety.
