IFP Takes Ward from ANC in Astonishing Victory in uMvoti

Jun 15, 2023 | Elections, Press Releases, Provincial (KZN/Gauteng)

The Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu-Natal, continues to grow from by-election to by-election and has achieved another remarkable feat: this time, by taking ward 2 in uMvoti from the ANC during a by-election, held on Wednesday, June 15, 2023.

The by-elections witnessed fierce competition between the IFP, ANC, ABC, and EFF, but the IFP emerged as the clear winner, receiving an astounding 1052 votes.

This victory is a testament to the trust and confidence the community has in the IFP as the best alternative to address their challenges.

Surpassing their opponents by a significant margin, the IFP’s triumph in the uMvoti ward 2 by-elections highlights the enduring legacy of our Founder and President Emeritus, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi. His exemplary leadership and dedication has resonated with the people, inspiring them to Trust the IFP with their votes.

Notably, the by-elections witnessed the participation of prominent candidates from various parties. It is particularly noteworthy that the ABC’s very own leader, PG Mavundla, contested as their candidate in this election. However, despite this high-profile candidacy, the ABC could not secure victory.

This outcome reinforces the people’s unwavering belief in the IFP as the party that best understands and addresses their needs.

It is essential to highlight the challenges the IFP faced during this campaign. The ANC resorted to the unfair use of state resources at government events for their campaign in uMvoti. Such actions undermine the democratic process and create an uneven playing field.

Despite these unfair tactics, the people of uMvoti demonstrated their resilience and commitment to change, by disregarding such influences.

Ward 2 in the uMvoti municipality, formerly under the control of the ANC, now stands united with the IFP following this by-election.

The IFP is profoundly grateful for their support. We acknowledge their faith in the IFP’s ability to champion their concerns and deliver meaningful change to their lives. We will not disappoint them.
