The IFP has noted that the ANC-led government is planning to stage an event in Nkandla under the banner of Taking Parliament to the People, after it has publicly announced that it wants to take over Nkandla Municipality, which the IFP believes that it might cause yet another Nkandla scandal.
“We object to this blatant use of the state resources for party political purposes, especially in light of the 2016 municipal elections. We have pointed out that the ruling party has a history of abusing taxpayer’s money by funding its own political agenda,” said IFP Leader in the KZN Legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala,MPL.
“The ANC’s use of the Taking Parliament to the People in Nkandla is merely the tip of the iceberg. The people of KwaZulu-Natal have had to endure heavy doses of the ruling party’s propaganda via taxpayer-funded events and various imbizos,” continued Mr Gwala.
“The abuse of state funds for the benefit of the ANC is illegal, and is a breach of their promise to all South Africans. The ANC’s support in Nkandla is falling apart because of a crisis of public confidence in its President. While the ANC struggles to restart their campaign, they do not have a licence to loot public money to do as they wish with it,” concluded Mr Gwala.
The IFP have details of a number of supposed government events that have been hijacked by ANC leaders and turned into nothing more than election rallies.
