IFP Wins Three Crucial By-Elections in KZN

Dec 1, 2022 | Press Releases

The people of uMthonjaneni, Abaqulusi (Vryheid) and uMsinga have once again shown that their trust lie in the resilient IFP, by trusting the Party with their votes – a clear sign of confidence in the IFP.

The IFP has, against all odds, won three significant, highly contested by-elections in the province on Wednesday, 30 November.

The IFP won Ward 5 in Mthonjaneni out-right, snatching it from the ANC.

This, despite many acts of misconduct by the ANC, which desperately bussed in scores of people from outside uMthonjaneni to illegally register and vote in yesterday’s by-election. The people of uMthonjaneni have sent a very strong message to the ANC – and the whole country – as to which party they believe should lead them, through voting for the IFP.

This Mthonjaneni win gives the IFP total control and an outright majority in Mthonjaneni Municipality.

The IFP continued its excellent track record of by-election victories and further went on to win Ward 13 in Abaqulusi in Vryheid and Ward 11 in uMsinga out-right, retaining both Wards.

The people of Abaqulusi and uMsinga once again displayed their loyalty to the IFP and disregarded the deployment of several MECs that flooded these areas, making empty promises to the people.

The IFP’s resounding victories in these three Wards in Mthonjaneni, uMsinga and Vryheid reflects the confidence that the people of this province have in the IFP.

This has been evident with many previous by-elections victories in the province, as the IFP now tops the list in terms of total victories.

The IFP commits itself to working hard to deliver the best services to the people of Mthonjaneni, uMsinga and Abaqulusi.

We call on all our newly-elected Councillors to remember that they are public servants. They must put serving the people with respect and humility, first. Further to that they should espouse servant leadership and ensure speedy service delivery, as per the teachings of our President Emeritus, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
