The IFP Youth Brigade (IFPYB) in Gauteng has heeded the call of our, National Chairperson, Mthokozisi Nxumalo MP, in supporting the #FreeKanyaCekeshe Movement.

The IFPYB Provincial Executive in Gauteng therefore decided to join forces with the movement in calling for the swift release of #FeesMustFall activist, Kanya Cekeshe.

We pledge our support and stand in solidarity with all other organisations seeking justice for Kanya.

In addition to our collective action, IFPYB National Chairperson, Mthokozisi Nxumalo MP has today written to the Minister of Justice & Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola to plead for the fast-tracking of Kanya’s application for release to be granted a Presidential Pardon.

Kanya’s health is deteriorating as reported recently and his appeals have fallen on deaf ears.

We must stand united in fighting against the injustice done unto Kanya – when his only crime, was to stand up in seeking justice for the millions of young people who are economically disenfranchised and remain marginalized.

The IFP Youth Brigade and the South African Democratic Students Movement (SADESMO) stands with Kanya.
