IFPWB on Allegations of Rape Against Abaqulusi Deputy Mayor

Oct 30, 2017 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party Women’s Brigade has noted with grave concern the serious rape allegations levelled against the Deputy Mayor of Abaqulusi Local Municipality.

“As the IFPWB we are against any form of women abuse. Therefore, if these allegations are true, then the Deputy Mayor must face the law irrespective of his position.
We want men who take a stand and defend women in all costs because men are labelled like monsters who only prey on women and abuse young girls. Violence against women and girls is an extreme manifestation of gender inequality and systematic gender-based violence,” said IFP Women’s Brigade National Chairperson, Mrs Thembeni Madlopha-Mthethwa MPL.

“The right of women and children to live free of violence depends on the protection of their human rights and a strong chain of justice.
As the IFPWB we call for partnerships between government and civil society organisations to deal with the scourge of violence directed at women and children. We believe that the unacceptably high levels of gender-based violence require the collective efforts of all South Africans.

The protection of women and children must be a 365 days project and not for specific days,” concluded Mrs Madlopha-Mthethwa.
