IFPYB Calls For A Thorough Investigation To The Conduct Of Traditional Healers In KZN

Aug 24, 2017 | Press Releases

The Inkatha Freedom Party Youth Brigade in KwaZulu-Natal today shares his disappointment on hearing the latest heart-breaking news that young people are said to be involved in the barbaric activity of eating human flesh.

“It is shocking that four young people under the age of 34 appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of murder and conspiracy. It distresses us that young people have thoughts that motivated them to behave in such a manner. It is clear that some so called traditional healers are somehow involved in the crime of kidnapping and killing that is taking place in our communities. Body part were not only being eaten but were also used to by the traditional healers,” said Mr Brain Masondo, IFP Youth Brigade Provincial Secretary in KwaZulu-Natal.

“It troubles us as youth leaders that these young people are being misled into indulging in such cruel activity. It also affects the dignity of young people. We understand that employment is not easily found these days but committing crime must never be an option and it does not pay in the long-term.

Today we want to plead to all young people to distance themselves from all sorts of criminal activity. This is the result of the government failing the youth in keeping them active in stainable jobs and that has opened a gap for criminals to lure young people into criminal activities. We also call on legitimate traditional healers to be more vigilant and to expose those bogus healers who are exploiting those who are desperate,” said Mr Masondo.

“The IFPYB in KwaZulu-Natal calls on the MEC of Community Safety and Liaison to urgently intervene and engage with the all the traditional healers in stopping such awful acts also to task a team that will investigate the functioning of traditional healers. This investigation will assist to eradicate false healers,” concluded Mr Masondo.
