The Inkatha Freedom Party commemorates the International Day of Non-violence, which takes place every year on October 2, as part of the United Nations efforts to advocate for non-violent ways of resolving conflict, a principle that the IFP stands for.
The International Day of Non-violence serves as a vital reminder of the importance of utilising peaceful means to resolve conflict, for stable and peaceful societies.
As the IFP, we celebrate this year’s theme of, “Non-Violence, often referred to as the politics of ordinary people.” Which rejects the use of physical force to achieve social or political goals.
This theme is not only in line with the IFP’s Manifesto commitment of, implementing and enforcing zero-tolerance towards violence and violent crimes. But serves as a reminder of the significance of fostering peace, through non-violent methods, such as dialogue, cultural-inclusion and understanding and education.
On this day, we take a stand against violence, and we advocate for peace, non-violence and stability in our country. We encourage the people of South Africa, to prioritise peace, and take a stand against violence.
Happy International Day of Non-Violence Mzansi!
